This program is the only federal economic immigration program that exclusively targets workers in trades occupations. The Government of Canada understands that communities and cities across the country experience labor shortages in many skilled trades occupations. This program permits qualified trades persons from around the world to immigrate to Canada permanently. This program has no educational requirements and the lowest threshold for language requirements compared to FSWC and CEC programs. 

Criteria to be eligible

  • Have at least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time skilled trades experience in skill level B on specific groups of the Canadian National Occupation Classification (NOC).

  • Have at least the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 language ability in all four categories (writing, reading, listening, speaking).

  • Have enough funds for the candidate (and their family if applicable) to settle in Canada.

  • Be admissible to Canada.
