The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program. It’s designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in one of the participating communities.

The communities will assess prospective candidates who have a genuine employment opportunity that meets their community requirements, have the intention of staying in the community, and best fit the economic needs of these community. The communities will also connect newcomers with settlement services and mentoring opportunities with established members of the community.

Criteria to be eligible

  • Have qualifying work experience or have graduated from a publicly funded post-secondary institution in the recommending community.

  • Meet or exceed the language requirements:

    • NOC 0 and A: CLB/NCLC 6

    • NOC B: CLB/NCLC 5

    • NOC C and D: CLB/NCLC 4

  • Have a certificate, diploma, or degree from a secondary institution or post-secondary institution.

  • Have enough funds for the candidate (and their family if applicable) to settle in Canada.

  • Intend to live in the community.

  • Meet community-specific requirements.

We offer our services in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. We serve major cities such as Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and regional areas such as Airdrie, Chestermere, and the Greater Toronto Area.
