A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is for any foreign national that is legally authorized to enter Canada for temporary purposes. Candidates who want to enter Canada for a temporary purpose such as vacations, tourism, short-term business trips, summer camps/short-term camps, or to visit friends or family, may apply for a Temporary Resident Visa.

Visitor Visa

When an individual first visits Canada, there are required documents such as :

  • a visitor visa (also called a Temporary Resident Visa)

  • an electronic travel authorization (eTA)

  • a valid passport or travel document

Visitor Record

If an individual wants to extend their stay in Canada as a visitor, the applicant needs to apply for a visitor record. A visitor record is not a visa but is a document that extends their visitor status and allows them to stay longer in Canada. It provides a new expiry date, which is the latest date that the individual needs to leave Canada by.

While the methods for applying for a TRV may seem easy and some applicants apply by themselves without seeking a professional immigration consultant, there is a higher risk of refusal for TRV applications because of improper application submissions. For instance, we have observed in our many years of experience that one of the key reasons for application rejections is due to incorrect document submissions or missing/invalid documents by those unaware of the appropriate application procedure. These events are rather unfortunate because small errors in applications may ruin larger individual plans, such as for vacations or business meetings. Therefore, we offer our professional services to applicants to maximize their chances of receiving approval on their TRV applications.
